I can't find my website on Google!

This is one topic that can get pretty deep quickly however there are some general things you can do to improve your chances of being found in search.

When you're a small business owner managing everything, including your website, you may not have the time to figure out why your website is not being found in search. Below are some quick and simple tips for you to consider either managing yourself, or with the help of a website designer.
- This is for the DIY people out there who might be building their own site. If you’re using popular platforms like Wix or Squarespace, make sure you’ve activated or upgraded your plan from a trial site. Make sure your page is published, trial sites just don’t fly when it comes to search. I've had to rescue one or two sites from DIY attempts in the past, so make sure you do your research first as it can sometimes be cheaper (and less stressful) to engage a local website designer in the first place.
- Verify your site with the Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools. Reach out if you would like to know more.
- Get your links out there. If you can write content that appears on other sites, it helps build authority and adds a link back to your website so people can find you. If you list in a directory of any type, make sure your website is listed!
- Meta tags: Choose some concise and clear wording to describe the content of each of your pages. They dramatically increase the chances that a user will click on your link. Don’t forget to add keywords that are relevant to your business or the purpose of your site.
