How blog or insights content can help you rank higher in search!

Adding new content to your site is important for many reasons, particularly when it comes being found in search.

Here are some ‘on-page’ tips to help your content stand out and hopefully be found by your websites target customer base.

Focus on keywords that you know your customers are searching for.

Firstly, this doesn’t mean writing content that makes no sense and just peppering it with endless keyword combinations – this will actually hurt your ranking chances. It will also not help in encouraging people to read your actual content.

A good starting point is to focus on one or two long-tail keyword combinations per post. Keep it narrow and natural to the topic of the post.

Where to include your chosen keywords within your content/post.

There are four key areas where you should try and place your keywords,

Title tag

o  This is the headline of your post and will be the first thing both the reader and search engine will use to determine the relevancy of your posted content.

Headers and body

o  Mention keywords naturally throughout the body of your content. Remember our tip above – keep it relevant!

URL

o  Search engines will also check out your URL to figure out the content of the post and it’s one of the first things it will ‘crawl’ when reading a page.

Meta description

o  A meta description gives search engines and readers information about your blog posts content – meaning you must use a ‘long-tail’ terms so your audience are clear about what your post in on about.

Mobile friendly

This is critical and is achieved by having a responsive website design. A significant amount of your traffic will come from mobile devices and people browse from the lounge room to the office lunch area away from desktop devices.

Evergreen blog content

What is evergreen content? Simply it’s content that lasts longer than a very specific, one time piece of content. It’s more likely to stay relevant for longer, attract more views and help you rank up over time, not just the near future. Another bonus is it helps generate a steady stream of traffic.
