Don't ignore your Google Business Listing

A Google business listing is a great first step to getting your small business out there at zero cost.

In this insights post, I'll cover some tips to help you get started with your Google Business Listing so that you can bring in leads and customers.

I'm still surprised many small businesses neglect their listing and lose their opportunity for it to generate new business. This is typically due to a great existing network of referrals or repeat business however it pays to make sure as many people know about your business as possible in the long run.

The basics

To keep all of your marketing efforts consistent, it's ideal set up your website and Google My Business when you purchase the domain name or logo/branding for your business. Typically, your website designer can assist you so that all of the details in the listing match your business and point to your website (or at least email if you don't yet have a site).

Once you've set up the basics and have an address, phone number and business hours along with a business name, description and photos, it's time to tell the world via already established channels (like social media). A great idea is to reach out to previous clients and ask if they would like to leave a review to establish online trust around your business. Reviews as we all know, are a very powerful tool online for small business.

Your Google Business Listing also gives you the ability to list products and services which will show up front and centre when someone sees your profile. This could be anything from your new menu or services to the latest offers and promotions you are running. It's worth taking advantage of these features as they can help bring in more customers and increase brand recall (as long as they're relevant). Upload some great imagery to make your listing really stand out!

Don't forget that Google My Business also has a section for business hours which can save you constantly keeping on top of the times your store is open, any holidays or special events.

What's better than a massive, optimised audience? A laser-focused, niche-oriented audience. With performance max campaigns, your ads show only to people most likely to convert-meaning that you can spend more time fine-tuning your strategy and spending less time chasing leads who aren't ready for your product or service.
