Does my tradie business need a website?

Does my tradie business need a website?

To put it simply, yes. It’s 2021 after all but there’s some very good business reasons why you should have your own website outside of social media pages and other directories (directories are awesome – just make sure you have a website to reference within them). With the omnipresent threat of COVID-19 lockdowns within Queensland, being available online is more important than ever.

Growing customer base

We’ll use Ipswich, Queensland as an example here. Across the city there are thousands of tradies undertaking a wide range of contracting work – which means customers have a choice. With more than 300 people moving into the region each week, there are plenty of new potential residents who may have not heard of you via referrals or other traditional networks. Be found in search, with a website, a local Ipswich SEO strategy and other online tools.

Making that great first impression

Your website is your source of truth and creates a professional impression on not only new customers, but existing ones. It’s a place to highlight your services, testimonials and other completed projects in a professional manner. Show your Ipswich customers you know what you are talking about and can deliver!

Extra tip: Photos, photos and more photos. Set up a gallery of completed work to show customers. Images should be taken where possible with a DSLR or mirrorless camera; newer smartphones will produce a quality image you can use as well. Take some time to make it look more than a poorly framed photo you just slapped up on the site in a hurry!

Extra tip 2: Make sure you web designer optimises your image galleries for mobile.

Working for you 24/7

With your business presence online 24 hours a day, you are more likely to interact with new customers at a time that suits them. Encourage further interaction with a clear call action or even a custom chatbot that can assist customers while you sleep. A client of ours, DRC Electrical uses a chatbot with a very high conversion rate to help them engage with online visitors.

Your vehicle and your website

Many people will google your business after seeing vehicle parked or driving around Ipswich to find out if you are the right tradie for them. They might not memorise your phone number, however they are likely to remember the business name to google (likely from a mobile device).

While we are on the topic, choose a domain name that is easy to remember while being as close to your type of business as possible. Johnslandscapingandrubbishremoval.com.au isn’t the easiest URL to type in and your email address will be even worse. Keep it short and succinct where possible.
