Optimise your website: 6 key considerations

What you need to consider to keep your site optimised for search engines

You want to keep your website in top shape to achieve the best results for your business.

  • Be descriptive and clear

Use accurate, descriptive titles for your pages.

It's a good idea to place different topics, products, or services on different pages, one topic (or closely related set of items) per page.

  • Be clear about your services

Be complete: Mention everything that you have to offer. Google is smart, but can't guess what you don't tell them (or the world).

  • Keep it relevant

Update your content to account for your business seasons, trends, or new offerings.

For example, if you run an ice cream store that also sells hot chocolate, be sure to feature your ice cream in the summer, and your hot chocolate (or coffee, or sandwiches) prominently in the winter, when people won't be looking for ice cream stores. If a new trend starts for kiwi ice cream and you have it in your store, feature it prominently.

  • Stay up to date

This one is pretty simple. There's no point in having a site that is out of date; it's a tool that should be helping you achieve your goals.

  • Text, text and more text

Don't put your site content or page titles only in images, video, animations, or other non-text formats that Google doesn't understand as easily as text. If you use a graphic for your site name, include the name in the page text as well.

  • Spread the word

Have your site mentioned in useful places online. See if you can get into your local online news sites, or in any other appropriate resources.

What's better than a massive, optimised audience? A laser-focused, niche-oriented audience. With performance max campaigns, your ads show only to people most likely to convert-meaning that you can spend more time fine-tuning your strategy and spending less time chasing leads who aren't ready for your product or service.
